WHO and Africa CDC launch $600M mpox response plan

The Africa CDC and WHO launched a $600 million response plan to address the mpox outbreak in Africa, declared a global emergency in August. Since January 2024, there have been 5,549 confirmed cases and 643 deaths, primarily in Congo. The plan includes surveillance and community engagement, with 200,000 JYNNEOS vaccine doses arriving in Congo, where 3 million are needed to control the outbreak.
