WHO launches $135 million plan to combat mpox outbreaks

The World Health Organization has launched a six-month plan to combat mpox outbreaks, requiring $135 million in funding. The initiative aims to enhance staffing, surveillance, and vaccine access, particularly in Africa. As of mid-August, over 21,300 suspected or confirmed cases and 590 deaths have been reported in 12 African countries. Germany is donating 100,000 doses of mpox vaccine to affected nations.
