Whole milk linked to healthier weight profiles in U.S. adults, study finds
A recent study published in Nutrition Research found that whole milk consumption is linked to lower body weight, body mass index (BMI), and obesity risk among U.S. adults. This challenges traditional low-fat dairy recommendations. The research analyzed data from over 43,000 adults, revealing that each cup of whole milk consumed was associated with a decrease in BMI and waist circumference. Whole milk drinkers also showed a higher prevalence of normal weight and lower obesity rates. These findings suggest that whole milk may play a role in healthier weight management, contrasting with the belief that full-fat dairy contributes to weight gain. Further research is needed to explore these associations and their implications for dietary guidelines.
