Wildfire near Los Angeles forces evacuation of over 10,000 residents

A wildfire named the Mountain Fire is burning northwest of Los Angeles, consuming 20,000 acres and destroying over 130 structures. Containment has improved slightly to 7% from 5% the previous day, as winds have calmed. More than 10,000 residents have been evacuated from the Camarillo area. Many have lost their homes, with some reporting only chimneys left standing. The fire continues to threaten critical infrastructure. This year has seen a significant increase in wildfire activity across the U.S., with California experiencing three times more land burned compared to the same time last year.
