Williams Racing earns double points in Chinese Grand Prix
At the 2025 Chinese Grand Prix, Atlassian Williams Racing scored points again. Alex Albon finished in 7th place, while Carlos Sainz took 10th. Their positions improved after three competitors were disqualified post-race, boosting both drivers up the rankings. The race featured complex tyre strategies and challenges for the Williams team. After starting on medium tyres, Alex and Carlos maintained their positions in the midfield. An early retirement by Fernando Alonso helped Carlos move up to 14th place. The pit stops were crucial, and Carlos was the first to pit on Lap 18, opting for fresh hard tyres. Alex followed closely behind on Lap 20. Both drivers gained positions as they passed rivals struggling with their older tyres. However, they faced competition from Ollie Bearman and Lance Stroll, who had different strategies. In the end, Alex finished 9th, just in front of Andrea Kimi Antonelli's Mercedes, while Carlos ended in 13th after battling for positions. This result brought Williams' total points in the Constructors' Championship to 17 after two races. After the race, Alex highlighted the progress the team has made this season. He expressed happiness about scoring points, especially at a track that hasn’t favored them in the past. Carlos admitted the weekend was challenging and mentioned a need to analyze and improve for the next race in Japan. Team principal James Vowles praised the team for their performance and emphasized the importance of helping Carlos adapt to get the best results.
