Wilshire Boulevard closed for Metro D Line construction
A section of Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills will be closed for three weeks as part of a Metro construction project. The closure affects a four-block stretch between El Camino and Crescent drives, including the intersection at Beverly and Wilshire. It will last until April 7. This construction is part of the D Line (Purple Line) Subway Extension Project. This project aims to improve public transit in Los Angeles and is expected to finish before the 2028 Olympic Games. It will add two new subway stations connecting downtown Los Angeles to West L.A. Work crews will be removing concrete panels used for the subway's underground construction. The goal is to complete this work quickly and avoid multiple weekend closures. Metro's Dave Cotero explained that this schedule will save time compared to doing the work over many weekends. The first section of the D Line is set to open later this year. Work on the Beverly Hills section will wrap up next year. The final section, extending to Westwood VA, is scheduled for completion in 2027. Metro advises drivers to follow detours and plan for extra travel time in the area during the closure.
