Winnipeg man charged with terrorism-related offenses
A 19-year-old man from Winnipeg has been arrested and is facing terrorism-related charges, according to the Manitoba RCMP. Nevin Thunder Young was taken into custody on Monday after an investigation was launched following a referral from Winnipeg police in February. Young has been charged with several offenses. These include facilitating a terrorist activity and participating in activities related to a terrorist group. He also faces two counts of committing an offense for a terrorist group. He is currently being held at the Winnipeg Remand Centre. Young's previous legal troubles involved vandalism. In January, he was charged with 26 counts of mischief for spray-painting antisemitic graffiti in the Charleswood area. This graffiti included swastikas on various buildings and community spaces. Young is scheduled to appear in Winnipeg provincial court on Tuesday. The case has raised concerns about hate crimes and public safety in the community.
