Winnipeg teen charged after crashing stolen vehicle
Winnipeg police report that a teen has been charged following a joyride in a stolen vehicle. The incident occurred on Monday evening in a parking lot on Kimberley Avenue. Around 6:45 p.m., officers received calls about a car driving erratically. When police arrived, they found a damaged Kia Forte that had been reported stolen from Whitley Drive a week earlier. The driver lost control and crashed into a pole after spinning the car and screeching its tires. The occupants of the stolen vehicle fled the scene. However, police, aided by tactical support and K9 units, located three teenage boys hiding behind a home on Green Valley Bay. A fourth teen was arrested nearby shortly after. Among the suspects, a 15-year-old has been charged with mischief and possessing stolen property. A 14-year-old and two other 15-year-olds were released without charges. The 15-year-old who was charged was released on an undertaking.
