Winter storm causes road closures in central Nebraska
A winter storm hit Nebraska on Wednesday, March 19, bringing heavy snow and strong winds. The Nebraska State Patrol reported many road closures due to the severe weather. The National Weather Service (NWS) warned that parts of north-central Kansas and central and south-central Nebraska could see an additional 2 inches of snow. Northerly winds could gust up to 65 mph until 2 PM that day. These conditions may reduce visibility and cause occasional power outages. Video shared by the Nebraska State Patrol showed the powerful winds affecting Interstate 80 near Elm Creek. The agency urged residents to avoid traveling during the storm. They noted that blowing snow could quickly make driving conditions dangerous, even in areas with less snowfall.
