Winter weather brings snow and strong winds to southern Saskatchewan
Southern Saskatchewan experienced its first winter weather on Tuesday, with snowfall warnings in place for the extreme southwest. Cypress Hills could see up to 15 centimeters of snow, while winds reached 80 km/h, causing poor visibility.
A low-pressure system from Alberta is responsible for the snow and potential freezing rain. Slippery conditions are expected in southern areas, prompting caution for drivers. The snow is forecasted to end by tonight, with winds expected to decrease.
Temperatures in southern and central Saskatchewan are predicted to remain above normal, ranging from 7 to 10 degrees Celsius. A weak La Niña is anticipated this winter, making predictions about the season's severity more uncertain.
