Wisconsin's net migration increased by 28,478 residents
Wisconsin experienced a net migration increase of 28,478 residents from July 2023 to June 2024, with 22,146 from international sources and 6,332 from domestic migration. This accounted for 93.2% of the state's population growth during this period. The state's net migration has reached its highest level since 2004, with over 25,000 residents migrating in each of the past three years. Wisconsin ranked second among Midwest states in net migration per capita. Despite this growth, projections indicate a population decline from 5.96 million to 5.71 million by 2050, driven by an aging population and lower fertility rates.
