Wodeton favoured for Golden Slipper after optimal draw
Wodeton remains the favorite for the Golden Slipper after drawing the second gate. This race, worth $5 million, features two-year-olds and will be run at Rosehill on Saturday. Wodeton is trained by Chris Waller and has been popular among bettors since winning his first race at Rosehill on January 18. He has faced tough competition, finishing third in the Silver Slipper Stakes and second in the Todman Stakes. Currently, his odds stand at $4.50 with Sportsbet. Another contender, Tempted, is close behind at $5. The Godolphin filly also had a good draw, landing barrier one. She recently won the Reisling Stakes. Godolphin's other horse, Beiwacht, drew barrier 16 and has odds of $51. They chose not to include another horse, Aleppo Pine, allowing Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott to add a third horse, Farcited, to the 16-horse lineup. Brett Cavanough’s horse, Alabama Magic, was the first emergency after starting from 54th in the ballot. If she gets into the race, former professional bull-rider Braith Nock will ride her. The Hawkes team has two horses competing, Devil Night in barrier 11 and West Of Swindon in barrier four, along with a second emergency named Nepotism. More updates will follow.
