Woman admits to lying about Duke lacrosse players in 2006 rape case
Crystal Mangum, who falsely accused three Duke University lacrosse players of rape in 2006, publicly admitted she lied about the incident. In a podcast interview, she stated she fabricated the story for validation and acknowledged her wrongdoing. Mangum, currently incarcerated for a separate crime, expressed hope for forgiveness from the players. She stated they did not deserve the false accusations she made against them. The players were declared innocent in 2007 after a thorough investigation found no evidence supporting Mangum's claims. The prosecutor involved in the case was disbarred for misconduct.
