Woman admits to lying about Duke lacrosse players in 2006 rape case
Crystal Mangum, who falsely accused three Duke University lacrosse players of rape in 2006, has publicly admitted for the first time that her story was a lie. She made the admission during a podcast interview while incarcerated. Mangum, 46, stated she fabricated the story for validation and acknowledged that the players did not assault her. The players were declared innocent in 2007 after a thorough investigation found no evidence supporting her claims. In the interview, Mangum expressed a desire for forgiveness from the accused men, stating they did not deserve what happened to them. She is currently serving time for a separate crime.
