Woman charged after e-bike crash injures toddler in Wales

A 65-year-old woman has been charged after an e-bike accident injured a two-year-old boy in Wales. The child, Dylan Latham, suffered severe injuries and needed over a dozen stitches on his forehead. The incident occurred on September 17, 2024, while Dylan was playing with his family at a park in Prestatyn. Police say Lynda Thomas, the woman charged, failed to report the accident, was riding a vehicle on a footpath, and did not have insurance. Dylan's mother, Darcy Gore, witnessed the accident. She rushed to her son, applied pressure to his wounds, and took him to the hospital. Following the incident, police appealed for information about the cyclist after reviewing CCTV footage. Ms. Gore is calling for stricter laws for both e-bike and bicycle users who violate road rules. Currently, cyclists can face lesser penalties compared to motorists involved in serious accidents. Initially, police chose not to pursue charges, but Ms. Gore has urged them to reconsider. Thomas is scheduled to appear in court on April 9.
