Woman charged in New Jersey hit-and-run crash

A woman in New Jersey was arrested on Thursday for her role in a hit-and-run accident that caused a death last August. Shernice Benbow, 62, from Piscataway, faces serious charges for leaving the scene of the crash. The incident took place on August 30, 2024, in Union County. Police arrived at East Front Street in Plainfield and found a 67-year-old woman named Jennifer Harris, who had been hit by a vehicle. Sadly, Harris was pronounced dead at the scene. Benbow has been charged with second-degree leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in death, as well as third-degree endangering an injured victim. The case has drawn significant attention in the community.
