Woman found dead, charred body discovered in Coimbatore

The Coimbatore District Police are investigating the death of a woman found burned near Madukkarai. The victim has been identified as S. Padma, 53, a school teacher from Arisipalayam. Her body was discovered on Wednesday morning along a road where garbage is frequently dumped. Local residents noticed the charred body and quickly called the police. Officers from the Madukkarai station responded promptly. Deputy Superintendent of Police L. Sivakumar and Inspector S. Rathinakumar visited the site. The body was later taken to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for examination. Padma's family indicated that she had been living with her son and daughter after her husband's death several years ago. She left for work on Tuesday morning but did not return home later that day. A search began when her family reported her missing. Her body was found along a route she regularly used to travel to school. Police believe the cause of death will be determined after an autopsy, scheduled for Thursday.
