Woman kidnaps niece over family dispute in Pune
Police in Pune have arrested a woman and her son and daughter-in-law for kidnapping her 10-year-old niece. The girl was taken from Shirur on March 13 after an argument between the woman and her sister, the girl’s mother. Authorities began a thorough search for the missing girl. This effort lasted 10 days and included reviewing footage from more than 100 CCTV cameras. Inspectors identified a motorcycle seen in the videos and confirmed the involvement of the woman and her family. The girl’s parents, who are roadside vendors, reported her missing on March 13. Investigators found that the woman had taken her niece to a relative's house in Belapur, Navi Mumbai. The mother recognized her sister in the CCTV footage, leading police to the suspects. During questioning, the suspects admitted to the kidnapping. The woman had taken the girl to teach her sister a lesson after their dispute. Police were able to rescue the girl and return her to her family. The arrests included the woman, her son, and her daughter-in-law, all charged with kidnapping.
