Woman seeks aid for disabled husband and ill brother
A woman named Mahalakshmi is seeking help to care for her family. She has a husband, Anantharaj, who suffered a stroke and is now unable to work. She also looks after her two older brothers, one of whom has serious mental health issues and the other has an amputated leg. Life was better for the family until Anantharaj's accident a few years back. Now, Mahalakshmi is the sole provider. She works at a cooker manufacturing unit to support her husband and their seven-year-old son. After losing her parents during the COVID-19 lockdown, her responsibilities increased. Mahalakshmi is now caring for all three men in her life. Her mentally ill brother is housed separately, and she visits him to ensure he is fed and clean. Mahalakshmi has tried to find a home for her brother but has not succeeded. Frustrated, she recently submitted a petition to the local Collector for assistance. She hopes for a job that matches her qualifications, which would help ease her burden. She attended a meeting at the Collectorate where she submitted her appeal. The Collector's Personal Assistant assured her that the Collector would receive her petition. Mahalakshmi remains hopeful for support in her challenging situation.
