Woman sentenced for filming men in public toilets

A woman has been sentenced to nearly two and a half years in prison after taking hundreds of secret photos of men in toilets. Chleo Sunter, 37, is a registered sex offender. She was caught with 790 pictures and 15 videos taken in an Aldi supermarket and a shopping center in Middlesbrough, as well as at Darlington Train Station. Sunter pleaded guilty to voyeurism and violating a sexual harm prevention order. The incidents occurred between January and November 2023. This is not her first offense; she has a history of crimes going back 13 years. In 2012, she was convicted of sexual assault, and in 2014, she was found guilty of possessing extreme pornography. Authorities discovered her actions when her manager checked her phone during a compliance visit. They found many pictures and videos of men, including some taken in sensitive areas. Investigators noted that she had deleted a large number of files from her phone and had tried to hide her online activity. Sunter's lawyer asked the judge to consider a different punishment, expressing concern about her potential homelessness after release. However, the judge decided to impose a prison sentence. He acknowledged her mental health issues but emphasized that they did not excuse her behavior. The judge noted that prison will be challenging for her.
