A 43-year-old woman was shot and killed outside her home in Lucknow on Saturday night. Sarika Srivastava was trying to stop a fight among youths from a nearby hostel when she was attacked. Sarika lived with her husband, Shyam, in Brijdham Colony, near the Anita Nayak Hostel. The couple was on their terrace when they heard the noise of a fight. Sarika asked the boys to quiet down and attempted to mediate the situation. According to local reports, Sarika warned the boys that she would call the police if they did not stop making noise. After hearing this, one of the students drew a gun and shot her in the chest. Sarika collapsed, bleeding on the terrace. The police were notified and arrived quickly at the scene. Sarika was rushed to KGMU hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her body has been sent for a postmortem examination. The police have detained eight students from the hostel for questioning, though the main suspect remains at large. Shyam Srivastava, Sarika's husband, shared his frustration about ongoing disturbances from the hostel. He had previously suggested to the hostel owner to change the tenant situation, but no action was taken. The couple had been living in the area for 20 years and had three children together.
