Woman vandalizes panchayat office due to unresolved complaint

On Tuesday morning, a woman named Shyamala vandalized the panchayat office in Aymanam, Kottayam. She was upset about what she believed was a lack of action on her complaint regarding a road near her home. Shyamala entered the office around 9:30 a.m. with an iron wire wrapped in paper. She first broke the glass cabin of the panchayat secretary. Then, she damaged the cabins of the panchayat president, Biji Rajesh, and vice-president, Manoj Kareemadom. An electrician tried to stop her, but she managed to escape the scene. Later, Shyamala turned herself in at the Kottayam West police station. Reports indicate that her anger was linked to an unresolved issue for which she had previously filed a Right to Information request. In response to the incident, the panchayat committee held an emergency meeting the same day.
