Woman's body discovered in East River, Queens
A woman was found dead in the East River near a park in Queens on Sunday morning. The body was floating close to a blood-stained Mercedes parked nearby. Police received a call around 11:15 a.m. about an unconscious person in the water. When officers arrived, they discovered the woman, believed to be about 45 years old. Emergency medical workers pronounced her dead at the scene. A passerby noticed the body near a popular jogging path in Little Bay Park, not far from Throgs Neck Bridge. The nearby Mercedes had visible blood on its rear door. The car, which had New York plates, was parked about 50 yards from the body. Inside, there were blood marks on the white leather interior, including a pool of blood on the driver's seat. The identity of the woman has not been released, as police are notifying her family. Residents expressed shock at the event. One local said they had never seen a crime scene in the area and described it as a busy spot for families and joggers. "It makes no sense," they added, highlighting how unusual this was for their neighborhood.
