At the Kisan Mela in Ludhiana, women entrepreneurs showcased their baking products. They all learned baking through a one-month course at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU). Manjeet Kaur, 50, took the course in 2015. She learned to make cakes and biscuits and now earns about 90,000 rupees each month from her business called Dusky Tart. She received funding of five lakh rupees from the Punjab Agri Business Incubator to help her grow her business. Manjeet shared that she was passionate about baking and enjoyed learning. Ravinder Kaur, 45, also took the baking course in 2018. She started her own business and manages it alongside her family responsibilities. She needs just four to five hours a day to run her business, which she finds rewarding. Sarabjeet Kaur, 62, began her business named Wise Mother after retiring. She uses the first milk from cows after they give birth to make her products. Sarabjeet loves to keep busy and enjoys her work. She believes in staying active rather than complaining about her health.
