Women who often feel tired should consider asking their doctor about their ferritin levels. Ferritin is a protein that stores iron in the body, and low levels can cause fatigue and other health issues. Dr. Shireen, a London GP, noted that while ferritin levels between 13 and 150 are considered normal, levels closer to 60-80 are ideal for those experiencing fatigue. She recommends discussing supplements if levels are below 30. To boost ferritin levels, women can also increase iron-rich foods in their diet, such as red meat, beans, nuts, and fortified cereals. Women aged 19 to 49 typically need about 14.8 mg of iron daily.
