Women increasingly use technology in agriculture, TANCAM reports
At a recent event in Tamil Nadu, R. Thendral, the vice-president of TANCAM, discussed the rising use of technology among women in agriculture. She spoke during the Women’s Day Hackathon at the Periyar Maniammai Institute of Science and Technology. Thendral emphasized that even small ideas can lead to important innovations. She encouraged people to connect these ideas to improve their projects and bring them to market successfully. She also highlighted the importance of staying updated with the latest technology trends. She noted that the number of women farmers using advanced tools like drones and the internet-of-things has increased from 18% in 2018-19 to 30%. This shows significant progress in women's adoption of technology in agriculture. K. Sushil Kumar, a consultant from the Tiruchirappalli Engineering and Technology Cluster, also spoke at the event. He praised PMIST for its vision in establishing an incubator for producing 'instant idiyappam' 15 years ago.
