Woolite recalls detergent for bacteria contamination risk
Woolite has recalled over 16,000 bottles of its delicate laundry detergent sold on Amazon due to potential bacteria contamination. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reported that the affected products might contain Pseudomonas species bacteria. This type of bacteria is commonly found in the environment, such as in soil and water. People with weakened immune systems or those using certain medical devices may face a serious infection risk from this bacteria. However, individuals with healthy immune systems are generally not affected. The recall specifically targets 50-fluid-ounce bottles of Woolite Delicates detergent. The affected bottles have lot codes S24364, S24365, and S24366. They were sold on Amazon for prices between $14 and $17 in January 2025. The bottles have a white design with a light pink label and cap, and the lot code can be found at the top of the back. Consumers who bought this detergent are advised to stop using it immediately. They can request a full refund by contacting Reckitt Benckiser LLC. To process the refund, they need to write "Recalled" on the back of the product, take a photo showing the UPC and lot code, and email it to the provided address. The CPSC also advises consumers to dispose of the product without emptying it first and not to recycle the bottle. For more details, consumers can contact Reckitt Benckiser during business hours or visit the Woolite website.
