Workers overestimate phishing identification skills, risking security
A new report from KnowBe4 reveals that many employees are overconfident in their ability to identify phishing attacks. While 86% believe they can spot phishing emails, over half have fallen victim to scams, including 24% to phishing specifically. South African workers show the highest confidence and victimization rates at 68%. In contrast, UK employees report a lower victim rate of 43%, but this is a 5% increase since 2021, indicating rising vulnerability. Experts emphasize the need for better training and a transparent security culture to combat phishing. Despite 56% of employees feeling comfortable reporting security issues, 10% still hesitate due to fear or uncertainty.
