Xi pledges $50 billion for Africa's infrastructure and trade

On September 5, 2024, Chinese leader Xi Jinping announced a $50.7 billion financing plan for Africa over three years, focusing on infrastructure and trade. This includes $141 million for military assistance and training for 6,000 military personnel. The China-Africa forum, attended by over 50 African leaders, resulted in numerous agreements on projects in agriculture, mining, and energy, amid China's growing economic ties with the continent.
