Yankees consider signing veteran pitcher Adam Ottavino
The New York Yankees are preparing for their opening day and need help with their pitching rotation. Recently, Adam Ottavino was released by the Boston Red Sox, making him available. Ottavino previously played for the Yankees in 2019 and 2020 before joining the Red Sox and the New York Mets. Last season with the Mets, Ottavino had a 4.34 ERA while appearing in 60 games. He signed a minor league deal with the Red Sox this offseason, but they have now let him go. Despite a tough spring with a 10.80 ERA in five innings, Ottavino has shown he can still perform well, especially against right-handed hitters. Some fans and experts, like Adam Weinrib of FanSided, are encouraging the Yankees to consider bringing him back. They believe that even though he is 39 years old and struggled in spring training, he could still be valuable. The Yankees could easily part ways with him if things don’t work out, making this a low-risk move. As they finalize their roster, Ottavino could be a good option for the team.
