Ye faces lawsuit over alleged copyright infringement in new song sample

Rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, is facing a new lawsuit from Memphis rappers over alleged copyright infringement related to his song "Fuk Sumn." The plaintiffs claim he used samples from their 1994 track "Drink a Yak (Part 2)" without permission. The lawsuit states that Ye's team attempted to clear the samples but stopped negotiations after he dismissed his legal team in June. The plaintiffs argue that they have not authorized the use of their music and highlight the significant streaming success of Ye's song. This case adds to a growing list of over a dozen lawsuits against Ye for unlicensed sampling, including nine since 2019. His representatives have not yet commented on the latest allegations.
