YEIDA approves land for CISF housing near Noida Airport

The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) is planning to allocate 13.6 acres of land for housing for CISF personnel. This decision will be made during a board meeting on March 28. The housing is for families of CISF officers who will work at Noida International Airport in Jewar. CISF Deputy Inspector General Vinay Kajla recently requested land at no cost to expedite the housing process. In the first phase of the airport project, 1,047 CISF personnel will be deployed for security, and 447 of them will need family accommodations. The rest will have bachelor quarters available at the airport. According to CISF rules from 2001, 100% of family accommodations must be provided for supervisory officers. Additionally, 45% of non-gazetted staff should receive family housing, while the remaining 55% can stay in bachelor quarters. The initial deployment includes various ranks, from commandants to constables. While YIAPL, the airport's concessionaire, is constructing bachelor quarters at the site, officials stressed the importance of providing family housing nearby. The airport is expected to begin commercial operations later this year, prompting the CISF’s request for land allocation. The plot in Sector 22A was initially approved for YIAPL in February 2023. The YEIDA CEO, Arun Vir Singh, confirmed that the land has a 15% premium over the prevailing housing rate, with a payment of Rs 195 crore requested from YIAPL. YEIDA is considering two options to develop the family quarters: form a joint venture with CISF or allow CISF to hire a developer independently. This proposal will also be discussed in the upcoming board meeting. In the meantime, married CISF personnel will receive a housing rent allowance to find private accommodation.
