Yoga teacher diagnosed with stage four lung cancer
George Dudnik, a 36-year-old yoga teacher, is facing serious health challenges after waking up with a swollen face in December 2023. Initially, doctors believed he had mumps. George called for medical advice and was referred to a doctor, who also suspected mumps but conducted no tests. He was sent home with basic instructions to rest. As time went on, George experienced more troubling symptoms. In March 2024, he felt sharp pains in his calf, which he assumed were due to exercise. Two months later, he began coughing up blood and collapsed at home. In the hospital, tests revealed blood clots in his lungs and legs, but doctors dismissed cancer as a possibility, citing his young age and good health. After further tests, George was diagnosed with Stage 4 ROS1-positive lung cancer in October 2024. This rare and aggressive cancer is considered incurable. George recounted the moment he received the diagnosis, describing a feeling of being underwater, unable to move or react. He felt as if his life was slipping away. By December, just before starting chemotherapy, George learned it would be ineffective due to the aggressive nature of his cancer. Instead, he is on a medication called Entrectinib and takes blood thinners to manage his condition. Doctors estimate he may have only a few years left. Despite the grim prognosis, George refuses to give up. He has started a fundraiser to help cover the costs of alternative treatments, as traditional treatments through the National Health Service are free, but other support is not. He is investing in meditation, workshops, and therapy sessions to enhance his healing. George has already raised nearly £8,000 and feels encouraged by recent reports that his cancer has decreased in size. He is determined to embrace life, believing in the power of self-healing and the spirit of positivity. While he knows the future is uncertain, George aims to live fully, as if he has many years ahead of him.
