Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stressed the importance of maintaining high educational standards in Uttar Pradesh during a recent meeting with education officials. He promised that the government would provide sufficient funds to make the state an education hub. Yogi highlighted improvements in government schools as reported in the ASER 2024 survey. He noted that student attendance in primary schools rose significantly, from 57% in 2010 to 71.4% in 2024. Additionally, more girls are enrolling in schools compared to boys. The provision of nutritious midday meals has also increased, with 95.4% of students now receiving meals, up from 70% in 2010. To further enhance education quality, Yogi emphasized improving the teacher-student ratio, especially in aspirational districts. He announced a 15-day campaign called 'School Chalo Abhiyan' starting April 1, urging teachers to encourage parents to send their children to school. The Chief Minister also praised Operation Kayakalp, which has improved school infrastructure. Nearly 97% of government schools now have separate toilets for boys and girls, along with other essential facilities. Yogi announced plans for new Chief Minister Model Composite Schools for grades 1 to 12 in 26 districts, as well as Chief Minister Abhyudaya Composite Schools for pre-primary to class 8 in 58 districts. These model schools will offer modern facilities, including playgrounds and skills training. He mentioned that 1,710 schools are being upgraded under the PM Shri scheme and 13 DIETs are being developed as Centres of Excellence for better education resources. Yogi called for summer camps to promote joyful learning and urged improvements at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas, which support girls from low-income families. The Chief Minister commended efforts to increase student admissions under the Right to Education (RTE) act, reporting significant growth from 10,784 admissions in 2016-17 to 4.58 lakh in 2024-25. He reassured that financial support for uniforms and school supplies would continue for eligible students.
