Youth arrested for arson in Avalahalli, India

A 22-year-old man named Ranjith has been arrested for setting his house on fire in Avalahalli, India. The incident occurred early on Tuesday morning as his family slept inside. Ranjith reportedly started the fire to take revenge on his father, Jayanth Muniyappa, who often scolded him. At around 1:30 a.m., flames broke out, but Ranjith's family managed to escape without serious injuries. Neighbors rushed to help them. Ranjith sustained minor burns and was treated at a hospital. The fire caused damage worth ₹25 lakh, destroying furniture and goods. Initially, the family thought the fire was due to a short circuit from the air conditioning unit. However, police found evidence of arson, including petrol-filled bottles at the scene. Jayanth then filed a complaint, suspecting someone had deliberately set the fire. After an investigation, police questioned Ranjith, who confessed to starting the fire. Tensions had been high between him and his father over money issues. Ranjith had misused funds spent on his education, which led to arguments between them. Following a recent confrontation, Ranjith planned the arson as a form of revenge, hoping to make it seem like an accident.
