YouTuber charged with attempted murder in New Hampshire
A YouTuber named Erik Conover, known online as Erik Van Conover, faces serious charges for allegedly trying to run over a police officer. During a court hearing on March 17, he threatened to "eviscerate everyone" with his intelligence while claiming the incident was a "massive misunderstanding." Conover, who has around 3 million subscribers and creates content about architecture and vlogs, was stopped by police for speeding. He was driving between 55-60 mph in a 35 mph zone when officers were already dealing with another speeding vehicle. Reports state that he led police on a chase across multiple counties. Before being pulled over, Conover reportedly attempted to “brake-check” Officer Cameron Emmett. After being stopped, he backed into Emmett’s car multiple times at a high speed. In court, Conover claimed that he had been mistreated by state troopers and insisted he is not the same person being accused of the charges. The 35-year-old was ordered to remain in custody until his next hearing on March 25. He has been held without bail after a probable cause hearing. When discussing bail, he suggested he could pay up to $1 million but considered $2000 reasonable. The judge did not agree.
