Zac Purton wins trial, preparing for March 30 race
Zac Purton, a top jockey in Hong Kong, is making a strong return from injury. He recently won a trial race on Ka Ying Rising at Sha Tin. Purton has been sidelined since February 9 after breaking his left big toe in a fall during a race. Purton plans to ride again at the Sha Tin meeting on March 30. He is preparing for the Group Two Sprint Cup with Ka Ying Rising. Although he has not fully healed, Purton feels good about his progress. He returned to trackwork earlier this week and is excited about upcoming races. In the trial race, Ka Ying Rising performed well. The horse raced smoothly and overtook Sword Point near the end. Purton praised Ka Ying Rising, stating that he continues to improve and enjoys racing. While Purton is expected to miss this Sunday's BMW Hong Kong Derby, he plans to compete next weekend, including riding Galaxy Patch in the Group Two Chairman’s Trophy. Another jockey, Hugh Bowman, will participate in the Derby after heading to Australia for the Golden Slipper Day. He will ride in multiple Group One races while in Sydney.
