Zakir Hussain laid to rest in San Francisco as musicians honor the tabla maestro
Zakir Hussain, a renowned tabla player, passed away on December 16 due to idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. He was laid to rest in San Francisco on December 19, with many musicians attending his funeral. Drummer Anandan Sivamani paid tribute to Hussain, expressing his admiration and the impact Hussain had on his life and music. Sivamani highlighted Hussain's enduring presence in rhythm. Hussain, born in Mumbai in 1951, was the son of tabla legend Ustad Alla Rakha. He began performing internationally at a young age and received numerous awards, including four Grammy Awards and the Padma Bhushan.
