Zakir Hussain reflects on inter-faith marriage to Antonia Minnecola before passing

Zakir Hussain, the renowned Tabla artist, passed away on December 15 in the US. He was known for his significant contributions to music and his inter-faith marriage to Antonia Minnecola, which he entered without his mother's approval. Zakir revealed that he married Antonia in a civil ceremony without informing his mother, who initially struggled with the mixed marriage. His father supported the union and later helped his mother accept Antonia. The couple met when Antonia sought to learn about Indian classical music. They have two daughters, Anisa and Isabella Qureshi.
