Zambian police officer arrested for allegedly freeing prisoners while intoxicated

A Zambian police officer has been arrested for allegedly releasing 13 prisoners while intoxicated on New Year's Eve. The officer, Detective Inspector Titus Phiri, reportedly took the keys and ordered the inmates to leave. The prisoners were being held on various charges, including assault and theft. None of the released suspects have returned to custody. The Zambia Police Service has initiated a manhunt to locate the escapees and has increased efforts to apprehend them.
