Zardari stresses winning war on terrorism in Balochistan

President Asif Ali Zardari held a meeting in Quetta, Balochistan, on Wednesday to discuss the province's worsening security situation. He pledged to win the "war against terrorism" and emphasized the need for strong actions to protect the nation. During the meeting, President Zardari was joined by key officials, including Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and the Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti. They reviewed recent security threats, including attacks by the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA). Zardari stated that the government would provide the anti-terrorism unit with advanced weaponry. He expressed a commitment to improving development in Balochistan and ensuring that all children are enrolled in school. He stressed the importance of educating children about modern technology. Recent violence in the region included incidents where BLA militants attacked and held train passengers hostage. Security forces rescued over 440 hostages, but suffered casualties, including the deaths of 26 passengers and four security personnel. The BLA, involved in these attacks, is one of several separatist groups active in the area.
