Zelenskyy calls for stronger air defense as Russia intensifies attacks on Ukraine
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine needs improved air defenses after Russia launched over 800 guided bombs, 460 drones, and 20 missiles in the past week. Ukrainian forces shot down 50 of 73 drones in a recent attack. Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine is not a testing ground for weapons and condemned Russia's ongoing attacks aimed at instilling fear. Air alerts have been frequent across the country, with Kyiv's military reporting the destruction of more than 10 drones targeting the capital. Despite the attacks, there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries in Kyiv. The air raid alert lasted over three hours as Ukrainian air defense systems engaged the threats. Russia has not commented on the recent incidents.
