Zelenskyy highlights air defenses as Kyiv faces renewed Russian attacks
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that air-defense forces successfully repelled a Russian attack on Kyiv, marking the first assault on the capital in over two months. The attack involved ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as around 90 drones. No fatalities were reported, but one person was injured by debris. Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of air defenses in protecting lives and infrastructure, while also noting an increase in Western military aid for air-defense supplies. Ukraine is preparing for a challenging winter, with significant damage to its energy infrastructure. Power consumption limits have been imposed in several regions due to reduced generation and imports. The military reported shooting down multiple missiles and drones during the recent attacks.
