Zelenskyy's approval drops 20 points since war began
A new Fox News Poll shows that approval for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has dropped significantly since the start of the war with Russia. Currently, 56% of Americans approve of his response to the invasion. This is down from 76% when the war began in March 2022. Approval among Republicans has decreased the most, from 76% in 2022 to just 34% today. Despite this decline in approval, most voters still support providing financial aid to Ukraine. About 56% back continued assistance, though this is a slight drop from earlier in the year. Support among Independents also fell, while nearly 80% of Democrats still approve of aid to Ukraine. In related news, support for Israel in the ongoing conflict has also shifted. Currently, 55% of voters side more with Israel than Palestine, down from 68% last October. Many Democrats now lean towards supporting Palestine over Israel, contrasting with opinions at the beginning of the conflict. On foreign aid in general, voters have mixed feelings. About 39% want to decrease spending, while 36% want to keep it the same, and only 23% wish to increase it. Former President Donald Trump’s approval ratings on foreign issues are generally low, but he has reached a record high overall, with 49% of voters approving of his job as president. The poll was conducted between March 14 and 17, 2025, with a margin of error of ±3 percentage points.
