Zirakpur boy's suicide linked to school and cyber cops

A 17-year-old boy from Zirakpur has allegedly taken his own life after being questioned by police following a complaint from his school. The boy, who was in Class XI, was found hanging at home on Saturday night. His mother, a single parent, claims that the police investigation contributed to her son’s distress and ultimately his death. The mother said that the Chandigarh Cyber Cell had summoned her son for questioning over a complaint related to online memes created by him and other students about their teachers. She had informed the police that she was not home but would accompany her son to the station. She mentioned that other children were also called in for questioning. When the mother returned home, she discovered that her son had locked himself in his room. Despite her attempts to get him to open the door, she had to break the glass to check on him. Tragically, he was found hanging and was pronounced dead at a hospital shortly after. The family has placed blame on the school management and the police for the stress that led to this tragedy. They claim that the school had previously warned the students and pressured them to delete their Instagram accounts due to the memes. The family and others affected have filed a complaint at the Zirakpur police station and plan to meet with local officials for further action. Police report that a suicide note was found at the boy's home, but it did not mention anyone by name.
