Zomato faces insolvency petition from Nona Lifestyle

Zomato, a leading food delivery company, may soon face an insolvency case. This comes as Nona Lifestyle Pvt Ltd, a creditor, has approached the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) to revive a previously dismissed petition against Zomato. Nona Lifestyle claims that Zomato failed to make payments for merchandise supplied during the ICC World Cup 2023. The tribunal had initially dismissed Nona's plea in 2024 due to a lack of prosecution. Now, Nona is asking the NCLT to restore this petition, citing a provision in the NCLT Rules that allows for such actions. The case appeared before a two-member NCLT bench and was postponed until April. Nona Lifestyle, which provides uniforms and merchandise, alleges that Zomato owes them Rs 1.64 crore, including interest. Zomato's legal team has denied these claims and argues there is an ongoing dispute regarding the payments.
