Zverev and Fritz advance; Gauff and Osaka eliminated
Alexander Zverev has advanced to the fourth round of the Miami Open. He won his match against Australia's Jordan Thompson with a score of 7-5, 6-4. Zverev started slow but came back strong after being 4-1 down in the first set. He aims to add to his seven Masters 1000 titles, especially since top player Carlos Alcaraz is already out of the tournament. Third seed Taylor Fritz also moved forward, defeating Denis Shapovalov from Canada 7-5, 6-3. Fritz lost a 5-2 lead in the first set but regained control with his strong serving. In women's singles, third seed Coco Gauff was knocked out by Magda Linette with a score of 6-4, 6-4. Meanwhile, top seed Aryna Sabalenka won against last year's champion Danielle Collins, also with a score of 6-4, 6-4. Sabalenka will face ninth seed Zheng Qinwen next, who beat Ashlyn Krueger in straight sets. Naomi Osaka faced Italy's Jasmine Paolini and lost 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 after a two-hour match. Osaka noted that playing against top-ranked players has been challenging for her since her return to tennis after maternity leave. Emma Raducanu continued her strong performance by defeating Amanda Anisimova 6-1, 6-3. This marks Raducanu's first time winning four consecutive matches since her US Open victory in 2021.
